Owner Kim Foren is trained as a fine art painter and showed her whimsical oil paintings for sixteen years at Quartersaw Gallery in Portland. Desiring a change in her corporate life, she started selling flowers in 1993 out of her VW van in front of Grand Central Bakery on SE 22nd and Hawthorne in Portland. She named her business Geranium Lake Flowers inspired by her favorite Windsor and Newton oil paint color “Geranium Lake”, a saturated fuchsia pink. The name serves as a reminder to keep her business creative. Moving to the US Bancorp Tower in 1995, she has become one of the premier floral and event companies in the Portland area. Her company has attracted such prestigious customers as Portland Monthly magazine, Nike, Tiffany and Company, Jake’s Catering at the Governor Hotel and The Benson Hotel.

Kim is dynamic and in love with her business and is proud of her achievements as she approaches her 16th year in business. In 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2005 Geranium Lake Flowers received Best of Portland awards from Portland Monthly magazine, Portland Bride and Groom and Oregon Bridal Magazine. In July 2003, Willamette Week selected Geranium Lake Flowers as “Best Flowers” in their annual Best of Portland edition. Throughout the years The Oregonian, Vancouver Columbian and the Portland Tribune all featured Kim and her business. The Portland Business Journal featured her on the cover in October 2000. Kim is regularly seen on Fox 12’s “Good Day Oregon.” The Oregonian’s Jonathan Nicholas dubbed her “Martha Stewart with an Edge.” She’s touted as putting a “fresh face on floral” by the Willamette Week and is featured as “best wedding flowers” in Portland by CitySearch.com.

She is constantly in demand for speaking seminars ranging from table top styling, organic flowers growing, holiday decorating and flower arranging.
